About Rotary
![]() The membership of the Club, as with Rotary clubs throughout the world, represents a broad cross-section of community leaders: architects, attorneys, bankers, contractors, corporate executives, developers, realtors, restaurateurs, village officials, etc. Service above self is the order of the day, Lake in the Hills Rotarians, welcome others to join them in servicing both their local community and the global community. We hope you will take a few minutes to look around the site, if you are interested in learning more about our club please join us for lunch. The world's first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, Illinois, USA, was formed on February 23rd, 1905, by Paul P. Harris, an attorney who wished to recapture the same friendly spirit in a service club that he had felt in the small towns of his youth, created Rotary. The name "Rotary" is derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among members' offices. Rotary International has grown over the past century and is now an association of over 31,256 Rotary clubs throughout the world, including every state of the U.S. and over 163 countries and geographical regions.
